Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Georg Schneider (Head of the Department)

Prof. Dr. Dr. Georg Schneider is Dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Graz and has been Professor and Head of the Department for Accounting and Reporting there since 2015.

He received his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Vienna in 2002 and in business administration in 2005 - both sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae. He was then a postdoc at the University of Vienna and spent part of the 2004/05 academic year at Stanford University.

In 2007, he was appointed Professor of External Accounting at the University of Paderborn - at the age of 27, he was the youngest professor at the University of Paderborn and one of the youngest professors in Germany. He held this professorship until 2015 and received further appointments from the University of Mannheim, the University of Bern and WU Vienna.

He is a member of the Austrian standard setter AFRAC, the Digital Reporting working group of the Schmalenbach Gesellschaft and the Corporate Accounting Committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of the IWP (Institute of Austrian Certified Public Accountants) and a co-opted member of the expert committee for corporate reporting of the Austrian Chamber of Tax Consultants and Certified Public Accountants.

In his research, he deals with the remuneration of managers, sustainability reporting, digitalization in accounting and international accounting issues. He has published in journals such as Management Science, Review of Accounting Studies and Contemporary Accounting Research.
