Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schäfer
Ulrich Schäfer has been Professor of Accounting and Transparency at the University of Graz since March 2026. After completing his doctorate at Philipps University Marburg in 2013, he held academic positions at the University of Göttingen, the University of Zurich, and the University of Vienna.
As part of his academic career, Schäfer has spent several research visits at universities in the United States, including Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Columbia University in New York, and Duke University in Durham. Since 2025, he has been a member of the Standing Scientific Committee of the European Accounting Association in the area of Analytical Modeling.
His research focuses on the optimal design of incentive systems within firms and on the effects of accounting information in capital markets. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and Contemporary Accounting Research.
